And.....Scene!

Like many of you, I was elated to see Michelle Ball get removed from her high horse at yesterday’s council meeting. Yes, I enjoy a bit of schadenfreude, but it was more than that. It was watching her finally have to obey the rules that she violated time and time again with zero repercussions. Even when she falsely accused Julie Thompson of being un-Christian-like (irony anyone?) and other nasty shit, the meeting was paused, but Michelle was allowed to pick up right where she left off, spewing lies, propaganda, and prepared statements meant to evoke hate rather than educate.

Last night the privilege that has been extended to her, and all the mayor’s friends, seemingly came to an end when she was escorted out for violating the rules of decorum. Or was it all a show?

Immediately after Michelle’s ejection, her daughter stands up with a prepared statement about how her mother getting kicked out was a violation of free speech. A prepared statement about her mother's ejection that had happened moments before. We applaud all the actors in this scene, but know that it was so poorly acted that nobody buys it for a second. I give it two thumbs down.

Speaking of thumbs down, where were Michelle and her “freedom of speech” cries when someone gave the mayor a thumbs down and was promptly removed by the police? Where were Michelle’s klan when the mayor intentionally left a speaker off the list that he knew would speak against him? Where were the freedom of speech protests after the meeting when the mayor tried to deny a speaker his full-time? And let’s not forget that her entire claim to fame is trying to shut down the free speech and expression of an entire demographic because of a false narrative that she has bought hook, line, and sinker.

And that’s the dead giveaway. One of the hardest things to do is to stand up for the freedoms of people you don’t agree with. Michelle spends 7 days a week attacking everyone who doesn’t think and look like her. That is not a proponent of freedom, but rather an attempt to control the thoughts and behaviors of others. Others who have zero effect on your life.

It’s all an act. They’re not in danger. They send stupid followers after citizens they don’t like, but they don’t actually have anything to fear. One person recorded the mayor and followed him down the street, some stickers wound up in their cars, and Michelle doesn’t understand a meme and how the internet works. These are not real threats. They are at most pranks. Every effort from our group, and all the others, have been to remove the mayor from the seat through the next election or legal proceedings by the council. The mayor lies about the threats he faces and sounds like the weakest whiner in the world. If you see him walking down the street, cross to the other side, lest he jump at the sight of your shadow.

Performative bullshit from an ineffectual leader.

As the mayor and his friends whine about the oppression they feel, remember that it’s made up nonsense. A performance for their followers to make sure that they stay sufficiently scared of a made up boogeyman. It’s a formula they repeat over and over again:

Problem, Reaction, Solution.

Create or manipulate a crisis. “Drag queens are sexually molesting children!”.

Make sure it’s exaggerated or orchestrated to create a sense of fear

among the public while playing the victim.

Demand for a resolution. The public reacts predictably with

a mix of fear, outrage, and a plea for help and the media is

instrumental in amplifying this.

The entity steps in with a solution. Granting more power to authorities,

eroding civil liberties, and serving the interests of a select few while

being presented as the only way to resolve the crisis.

I don’t believe for two seconds that Michelle Ball or the mayor have a firm grasp of what the first amendment is and used those words only as a prop for nonsense last night. So, Mayor Whiny Britches and Political Performance Barbie, if your life is so tough, let me help you out. I can solve all your problems with two simple pieces of advice.

Mayor, do your fucking job. Boom. Problem solved. Start working on the issues facing the city’s residents. It’s just that simple. Cancel all your speeches around North Carolina. Stop using your Twitter feed as a beacon for white supremacy/Christian Nationalism and do your fucking job. Easy-peasy, dense and wheezy!

Michelle, mind your own fucking business. Stop harassing small segments of the population because you are easily manipulated by lies. Stay home, buy a vibrator, whatever you want to do! Just stop thinking that you are the morality police. So if you feel threatened, like your life is in danger, and that you need to request a “bulletproof vest” from the police department for your safety, just mind your own business and all these fake targets you’ve painted on your own back go away! Easy-peasy, mentally queasy!

And mayor, if you want to make your life infinitely better, and everyone else’s in Monroe, then it’s a simple two word solution for you. Just say, “I resign.”
